Product Owner: Company Secretarial Software

We have the perfect role for you . . . if:
- You currently work at, either :
a. an accounting firm (or corporate services firm) performing secretarial services for the firm’s customers;
b. a company that has lots of legal entities and you personally perform much of the secretarial functions - You love automation and are highly software/technology literate
Reporting to the Head of Product, the Product Owner is responsible for the success of the Konsise Entities Management solution (which comprises Secretarial and Beneficial Ownership functions).
The successful candidate will shape the way that South African corporates, and the companies who service them, perform their statutory functions.

Key deliverables of the Product Owner for secretarial software:
- Collaborating with prospective users and clients to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for the Entity Management and beneficial ownership solution.
- Creating and maintaining the product ideas and feature lists that clearly communicate customer/ stakeholder needs to the development team, in the form of clear user stories and acceptance criteria,
- Understand bugs and customer issues.
- Identify enhancements and articulate them to the development team.
- Own and manage the Konsise Entity Management roadmap.
- Participate in Product Advisory Board Meetings with key stakeholders, both internal and external
- Work closely with the engineering and development team during release cycles.
- Conduct high-level product testing
- Deal with client queries (escalated from support).
- Support sales enablement and training on the products and demonstrations.
- Assisting with sales meetings as the product expert.
- Provide input into marketing collateral for the products
- Understand the competitive landscape and assist with competitive positioning.
Skills & abilities
A good understanding of

- the legal framework for Companies in South Africa
- CIPC requirements
- Beneficial Ownership reporting requirements
- Share transactions, registers, records, etc
- Reporting of company structures
- The ability to see the potential of using technology to change and improve the way processes are done.
- Excellent ability to be market-facing, identify market opportunities, and translate these opportunities into new software technology, products, features and similar.
- Ability to prioritise effectively.
- Passionate about using technology and the automation of processes: Someone who challenges inefficient manual processes and is constantly seeking improvements using technology.
- Self-managing: this role would report to the Head of Product, but is not a role for those needing micro-management. The successful candidate would need to be self-motivated, autonomous and a self-starter.
- Driven, ambitious and confident.
- Thought leader: With ownership of the products, the candidate needs to be a natural thought leader in the business by being the go-to person for their products, knowledge and experience.
- Client-facing: this role requires client interaction to obtain feedback about the products or to attend sales meetings.
- Analytical and attention to detail: the ability to be analytical and dive deep into processes and data is a key ability for this role.
- Team player: Although no direct reports for this role, it does require ongoing and various cross-functional team involvement and collaboration
Education & qualifications
- Ideally, have a three-year tertiary qualification
- Industry-related training and certifications
Details of experience
- Work in the secretarial industry for 3-5 years as a minimum, ideally longer
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Office Product Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with other secretarial software solutions (Accfin, Greatsoft, ProSoft, Diligent, etc.)
- Currently in a company/practice, submitting the company’s annual returns
